Phosphorus
Phosphorus is part of the genetic makeup or material of all
cells within your body. It works with enzymes and vitamins to
process needed energy from food taken in.
Even though phosphorus is combined with calcium in all of
your bones and teeth, you can still become deficient in this
major mineral.
The symptoms of deficiency are fragile bones, loss of appetite,
stiff joints and weakness.
Usually its not a case of not getting enough, but getting too
much.
Too much can effect the bodys ability to use and absorb
calcium.
Soft drinks and fast foods usually contain high amounts of phos-
phorus causing calcium not to be absorbed right and causing
brittle bones.
People who take antacids over a long period of time cannot
absorb phosphorus and quite often will show the above
symptoms. Lack of phosphorus can cause soft bones making
the bones unstable or bend easily and teeth to decay rapidly.
It does not accelerate growth in children or reduce it. It also
does
not reduce stress. Phosphorus is not toxic but must be kept
in balance with other minerals. This mineral aids and strengthen
bones and teeth and works with energy metabolism.
Watch what you eat and drink, make sure this mineral
is in
balance with other minerals, vitamins and enzymes.
