Phosphorus For Health
Phosphorus in another important macro mineral that we can-
not do without. 90% of the phosphorus in our bodies is found
in our teeth and bones.
An integral part of life and health, this mineral element is
essential to the structure and function of much of the body and
skeletal system. It is the mineral that works with calcium
to
keeps our bones and teeth rigid and strong.
Phosphorus phosphate is the main component known for its
role in the creation of and upkeep of our bones and teeth.
Phosphate actually maximizes the benefits and absorption
of calcium.
Balancing our needs
If you have need to up your intake of calcium, it may be wise
to
also up your phosphorus intake also, but it must be done in
balance with other minerals and enzymes also. The minerals
phosphorus and calcium do not stand alone, it also needs
the mineral magnesium, Vitamin D and Vitamin C, it serves
in the formation of the hard surfaces of the bones and teeth.
Phosphorus also has a role in the working of the bodys
muscular system and thus, is important to the beating of the
heart. It is specifically associated with the smooth and regular
contraction of the bodys muscles,
Phosphorus also works with the health of the nerves and their
ability to communicate. In addition to being an important facet
in the nerves of the body, it is also essential to the correct
formation of cell membranes and the proper creation of genetic
material.
Phosphorus and Vitamins
Even though we usually think of phosphorus working just with
the bones and teeth, it is also works with the Vitamin B complex
i
n transforming nutrients to energy. A lessor known fact is that
without this mineral Vitamin B1 ( Thiamin) cannot be used by
the body.
Phosphorus works with the vitamins
that make up the powerful
group known as the Vitamin B complex in the transformation of
nutrients to energy. In fact, thiamin, or Vitamin B1, cannot
be
used by the body without the presence of phosphorus, which
means that this mineral also has a role in the health of the
digestive system, as well as in that of the nervous system.
It also serves in the regulation of kidney
function and helps to
keep the bodys PH levels where they should be. Iodine and
zinc, which both play an important role in the maturation and
function of the reproductive system need phosphorus in order
to be properly utilized by the body.
Phosphorus indeed is a major mineral for the complete body,
mind and brain. Again we need to remember it must be in
balance with the other minerals to work properly.
